Spent part of the weekend on a family trip at a wildlife park situated in a quaint little area up in the mountains.
I wasn’t exactly looking forward to a boring 3 hour drive to the middle of nowhere, but it turned out surprisingly enjoyable and I got to see things I don’t normally see on a daily basis.

Got to see some interesting animals..
… the lynxes being my favorite of them all.
And then there were those I really didn’t care for.
The billy goats were everywhere. -_- They were pretty much the only animals that could roam freely.
And then there were these big hairy intimidating looking bovines which I’m pretty sure were yaks.
Gorgeous white foxes which you could hardly see through the snow.
They were so tiny and adorable!
Weekend in pictures
Managed to get work done at the embassy early Friday morning (and not only then but also in the beginning of the week and the end as well. #proudofmyself)
Stopped by the loveliest pâtisserie, Pascal’s
And of course bought some macaroons (or little colored “krabby patties” as my brother calls them) as a reward to myself
And later enjoyed them with this sauvignon blanc wine, discovered by my sister. A must try. They fit each other exquisitely, both superiorly rich and sweet; and not to mention, a little too much for me to handle.
For dinner: perfectly prepared mussels
Woke up early saturday morning, had some coffee at the park
Its actually really quite serene in Oslo in the morning when no one is around except people working in cafes setting up for the long day ahead.
Went to a huge street sale shopping event… which started off delightfully
But ended in a rather gruesome manner. People could barely walk down the street without being run over by crazy careless shoppers or ruthless Mom’s with strollers.
And I just realized how ugly those tram lines and electrical lines look amongst all the nicely carved buildings.
On the bright side, there was yummy, cheap food everywhere.
And street food which is really nice to see since its really not a normal around here
Sunday was spent in the company of horrid weather and movies - all day; so nothing really interesting with that. I did however, discover my 9 year old little sister’s hidden jar of peanut butter with “Don’t Touch.” written all over it… which is not odd (or glutinous) at all.
But to sum it all up, my weekend was pretty damn sweet & lovely like this little eatery I happened to come across on Saturday.
6. 21:00 - 9 pm
Downed an enormous cup of milk in hopes of maybe falling asleep super early tonight since I have to get up super early for work tomorrow.
Also began reading my sister’s book. Currently going through a bakery phase. Kinda wanna own a bakery now so I could style it and have lovely desserts everywhere and so I could go to a visually appealing work place everyday. A little heaven created by me.
Farewell, January
I’ve decided to greet March with a “fotoutfordring”, or translated in English from Norwegian, a photo challenge! :D All just to keep me from neglecting my sweet little camera and tumblr.

Found the challenge on this random norwegian girl’s blog and thought, why not? (: So…
1. Frukt - Fruit
So I present to you… my favorite fruit of all. :D

Once upon a time, I had a craving for Ben & Jerry’s. Though cozy and cute as it may be, I really could not be bothered to go to the Ben & Jerry’s parlor in central Oslo.

So I went to the store and bought two tiny little packaged ones for my sister and I, instead. And my yielding to gluttony resulted in me spending nearly TWENTY bucks for the little suckers (because of course, Norway has super inflation and likes to over-price absolutely everything - how lovely for us all that live here).
I mean it was delicious but now I just feel uncomfortably bloated. Now I realise it was not even worth it… Now I realise I haven’t got the time to get fat and lose it all in a matter of two weeks or less. When is a craving ever worth it? And yet I always end up succumbing.

Feeling inspired at the moment and altogether quite elated. Or maybe I’m just experiencing a hypomanic episode.
For one (1), I just bought myself a sexy new leather jacket, (2) unknowingly completing the perfect Halloween costume for me. And (3) how perfect is it that I, right after finding out that I do not have to work on All Hallows’ Eve Monday, find the perfect costume by complete coincidence only two days before the highly anticipated?
I guess some things really are just meant to fall together.
And plus so many wonderfully, genial ideas are surging through my head that I don’t even feel anxious for my 8 hour shift tomorrow which I usually fret about the night before.
Anyway, about my costume.
A little bit of history:
I went through a little phase where I obsessed freakishly about James Dean for no specific reason what so ever; to the point where I read about every single little detail of his life, his ideologies and studied his every move in his movies and shows which revolutionized pretty much the meaning of “cool” not only in the 50’s but for every time period since. (How nerdy am I?) So what better way to spend Halloween than to pay tribute to the poster child of “cool” itself - James Dean.

If you must know, he was known for looking effortlessly cool and that I shall do with my sexy new black leather jacket which he, by the way, forever iconized in the fashion world as timeless.

Leather jacket: check!

Blue jeans and white shirt: check!

And lastly, his famous clubmaster sunglasses which I also happen to have thanks to my Uncle who collects old Rayban shades.

So pretty much I’m a crazy person who is freakishly obsessed with this guy and I’m taking it to a whole new level.
My October is complete.

And then found a random wall. (:

Once again, I have to be left out of family activities because of work (and other predicaments but mainly work). The family is leaving for Malmø, Sweden for the weekend and I have to be stuck at home. Yayy.. While they’re off partying and shopping I’ll be in boring old Norway. Yayy..
Guess somethings just can’t be.
Belated Thanksgiving
Wow, its amazing how one’s day can just completely flip-flop - if that’s even the right word.
My day went from disastrous to impossibly bewildering (in a good sense).
I don’t even feel like going to sleep anymore.
I find it rather odd how Norway now has a Black Friday… yet they don’t celebrate Thanksgiving. Black Friday is mine Norwegian bitches. Didn’t make sense.
And what kind of sick, lowly world do we live in, when a National holiday is necessary to make people think about and simply state what they’re thankful for? Does the word fabricated and artificial not happen to pop up in anyone’s mind?
Trip around Norway
Let me first say, I must sum up the trip with the keywords: tunnels, driving, ice cream, fish, boat, water, waterfalls, mountains, and some other ones I might have forgotten.
Day 1
We saw lots of waterfalls. So much so that I actually lost my amazement and enthusiasm.

I don’t have a picture for this one but the first night was absolute hell. The cabin we stayed at caused my mom some major distress - to put it in a nice way. We were supposed to stay there for two nights but my mom made us check out and find a hotel in the city. haha
Day 2
We walked around Bergen shopping, sight seeing, etc.

We also checked into a new hotel. And coincidentally enough, the room that we had overlooked the Muse concert that I wanted to go to (but couldn’t because it was in Bergen). Still I couldn’t see it because we were leaving the night they were performing. ):

Day 3
More waterfalls..

More sceneries..

Saw some glaciers

Checked into cabin #2 - which was far better than the other one.

Clean, clean water

Went to an aquarium

Drove until 3 am

Day 4
Got to see Minnie! :D (She’s coming home today:)

Went fishing on a small boat for the first time and experienced a beautiful sunset.

Day 5
Nature stuff
Day 6
More nature stuff

Day 7
Took a REALLY long ferry ride to Trondheim.

Walked around Trondheim and bought stuff.

Went to a food festival.

Then we went to my dad’s brother’s place and arrived home around 3 am.
