Weekend in pictures

Untitled

Managed to get work done at the embassy early Friday morning (and not only then but also in the beginning of the week and the end as well. #proudofmyself)

Untitled

Stopped by the loveliest pâtisserie, Pascal’s

Untitled

And of course bought some macaroons (or little colored “krabby patties” as my brother calls them) as a reward to myself

_MG_4200

_MG_4173 And later enjoyed them with this sauvignon blanc wine, discovered by my sister. A must try. They fit each other exquisitely, both superiorly rich and sweet; and not to mention, a little too much for me to handle.

For dinner: perfectly prepared mussels

Woke up early saturday morning, had some coffee at the park

Its actually really quite serene in Oslo in the morning when no one is around except people working in cafes setting up for the long day ahead.

_MG_4204

Went to a huge street sale shopping event… which started off delightfully

_MG_4235

But ended in a rather gruesome manner. People could barely walk down the street without being run over by crazy careless shoppers or ruthless Mom’s with strollers.
And I just realized how ugly those tram lines and electrical lines look amongst all the nicely carved buildings.

_MG_4249

On the bright side, there was yummy, cheap food everywhere.

_MG_4210DONUTS!

_MG_4231

_MG_4224And street food which is really nice to see since its really not a normal around here

Sunday was spent in the company of horrid weather and movies - all day; so nothing really interesting with that. I did however, discover my 9 year old little sister’s hidden jar of peanut butter with “Don’t Touch.” written all over it… which is not odd (or glutinous) at all.

But to sum it all up, my weekend was pretty damn sweet & lovely like this little eatery I happened to come across on Saturday.

Winter is lovely in this city.

IMG_0203

The combination of the lights that are put up for the season and the snow that accompanies it is mesmerizing.

And the sight of all the winter clothes, of course. I’m all for winter clothes. Knit sweaters, coats, boots…

Once upon a time, I had a craving for Ben & Jerry’s. Though cozy and cute as it may be, I really could not be bothered to go to the Ben & Jerry’s parlor in central Oslo.

So I went to the store and bought two tiny little packaged ones for my sister and I, instead. And my yielding to gluttony resulted in me spending nearly TWENTY bucks for the little suckers (because of course, Norway has super inflation and likes to over-price absolutely everything - how lovely for us all that live here).
I mean it was delicious but now I just feel uncomfortably bloated. Now I realise it was not even worth it… Now I realise I haven’t got the time to get fat and lose it all in a matter of two weeks or less. When is a craving ever worth it? And yet I always end up succumbing.

Feeling inspired at the moment and altogether quite elated. Or maybe I’m just experiencing a hypomanic episode.
For one (1), I just bought myself a sexy new leather jacket, (2) unknowingly completing the perfect Halloween costume for me. And (3) how perfect is it that I, right after finding out that I do not have to work on All Hallows’ Eve Monday, find the perfect costume by complete coincidence only two days before the highly anticipated?
I guess some things really are just meant to fall together.
And plus so many wonderfully, genial ideas are surging through my head that I don’t even feel anxious for my 8 hour shift tomorrow which I usually fret about the night before.
Anyway, about my costume.A little bit of history:I went through a little phase where I obsessed freakishly about James Dean for no specific reason what so ever; to the point where I read about every single little detail of his life, his ideologies and studied his every move in his movies and shows which revolutionized pretty much the meaning of “cool” not only in the 50’s but for every time period since. (How nerdy am I?) So what better way to spend Halloween than to pay tribute to the poster child of “cool” itself - James Dean.

If you must know, he was known for looking effortlessly cool and that I shall do with my sexy new black leather jacket which he, by the way, forever iconized in the fashion world as timeless.

Leather jacket: check!

Blue jeans and white shirt: check!

And lastly, his famous clubmaster sunglasses which I also happen to have thanks to my Uncle who collects old Rayban shades.

So pretty much I’m a crazy person who is freakishly obsessed with this guy and I’m taking it to a whole new level. My October is complete.

I finally get to go online!

I’ve been busy allllll week with none other than: homework (as usual) and CAS stuff. Haven’t really gotten the chance to do my geek stuff online.
My days have gone something like:

  • Wake up
  • School
  • Gym
  • Something for CAS-service like Red Cross or Homework help or some other important thing for my future (ha)
  • Go home
  • Nap
  • Homework: which consists of reading, memorizing, studying, writing reports
  • Sleep
  • Replay

Oh yeah and I went to this Job fair thing in Oslo with some people on Wednesday(?). Kinda failed. hahah. It wasn’t very teenage friendly, but it was a good experience. Afterwards we roamed around and ended up buying/eating things I wasn’t supposed to likeee: Subway and candy from Sharon’s.

Speaking of Subway, that was the first time in more than a year that I had a Subway.

And tonight, there was this mini concert thing that Samuel and Guy performed in. Better than I expected. But the crowd was lame. :P
They had free-ish food. Met some cool people and got to know some others better.

Anyway, I’m proud of myself. It’s been a rather productive week. And certain problematic situations are kinda “progressing” or not..
